Medical professionals believe that the disease may result from abnormal movement of the digestive tract or heightened sensitivity of the nerves in the digestive tract, such as sensitivity to certain foods or stress.

For diagnosis, medical professionals will take a detailed medical history, evaluate symptoms, conduct physical examinations, and may perform additional laboratory tests, such as blood tests, stool examinations, or other specialized tests as needed.
